The online distance learning system TRIZ-trainer is designed for initial training in solving inventive problems. As a result of the training, the student gets an idea of the problem-solving process itself and respective terminology, and undergoes practical training in problem solving under the guidance of an experienced teacher. The ultimate goal of the training is to develop skills in solving inventive problems.
For this purpose, the section «Problems» offers a student a set of problems for solving and the student solves them by performing a certain sequence of actions. The problem-solving process is prescribed by a standard template based on the algorithm of improvement of problem situations (AIPS). The obtained ideas and the problem-solving process itself described according to the template are sent to the teacher through the communication system. The teacher evaluates the ideas and examines, together with the student, the solving process, pointing to errors and inaccuracies.
The student chooses whether to go straight to problem solving or to study theory first and then, after gaining a sufficient theoretical knowledge, to proceed to solving test problems and answering test questions.
To better understand how to solve an inventive problem, students may analyze the «Case studies», solved by this method and then solve their problems in a similar way.
